Mestrado em Engenharia CivilDanos provocados por eventos sísmicos recentes comprovavam a existência de vulnerabilidades por parte dos edifícios de betão armado existentes. A limitada resistência sísmica deste tipo de estruturas deve-se à falta de regulamentação específica na construção dos primeiros edifícios de betão armado, associada a algumas opções de conceção e construção verificadas, nomeadamente, falta de pormenorização da armadura, utilização do betão com reduzida resistência e utilização de armadura lisa. As maiores debilidades observadas centram-se nas ligações viga-pilar, não apenas pelos fatores referidos, mas também pela elevada concentração de esforços que se verificam nestas zonas. Abstract: We estimate the implicit market price of soil erosion, fitting a spatio-temporal hedonic price model using quarterly data of 3,563 agricultural farms traded in Uruguay between 2000 and 2014. A unique feature of our estimation is that we allow for possible spatial spillovers. We find evidence of a negative and statistically significant association between erosion and land values. A 1% increase in own topsoil loss due to own erosion is associated with a decrease of 0.22% in the per-hectare price of agricultural land (p-value: 0.013, 95% CI: -0.0039, -0.0005). This is equivalent to a decrease of 7.7 USD in the average price per hectare and USD 1,040 in the price of the average farm (134 hectares). This value increases to USD 1,277 when we add the average cross marginal effect of erosion in nearby farms. Crucial for any hypothesis about odor coding is the classification and prediction of sensory qualities in chemical compounds. The relationship between perceptual quality and molecular structure has occupied olfactory scientists throughout the 20th century, but details of the mechanism remain elusive. Odor molecules are typically organic compounds of low molecular weight that may be aliphatic or aromatic, may be saturated or unsaturated, and may have diverse functional polar groups. However, many molecules conforming to these characteristics are odorless. One approach recently used to solve this problem was to apply machine learning strategies to a large set of odors and human classifiers in an attempt to find common and unique chemical features that would predict a chemical's odor. Der Bedarf an Daten über die quantitative und qualitative Veränderung unserer Landschaft bzw. der Ökosysteme ist hoch, viele Erhebungen betrachten aber nur Teilaspekte oder sind nicht genau genug. Mit dem Ökosystem-Monitoring soll ein repräsentatives Langzeit-Beobachtungsnetz auf bundesweit repräsentativen Stichprobenflächen geschaffen werden, mit dem der Zustand und die Veränderungen der vorhandenen Strukturen und Ökosysteme der Gesamtlandschaft dokumentiert werden können. Auf Basis der Roten Liste der Biotoptypen wurde eine Kartieranleitung erstellt und mit flächendeckenden Erfassungen auf bundesweit repräsentativen Stichprobenflächen in größerem Umfang getestet. Neben den Biotoptypen wurden dabei auch charakteristische Zusatzmerkmale erhoben, welche Aussagen zur Qualität der Biotoptypen erlauben. Die Ergebnisse der Ersterfassungen wurden auf bundesweite Werte hochgerechnet, wobei Vergleiche mit bestehenden Daten eine gute Aussagekraft der Monitoring-Daten attestieren.
