In his Ḫaṣā’iṣ, Ibn Ǧinnī (d. 392/1002) refers, incidentally, to a differentiation between bedouin and sedentary Arabic dialects, the latter being characterized by a partial loss of the case and mood endings (’i‘rāb). In so far as Ibn Ǧinnī refers on this point to an earlier source of nearly two centuries, on the one hand, and indicates that there was hardly any Bedouin at the time to speak “correct” Arabic (faṣīḥ, that is to say, inflected mu‘rab) on the other hand, we can see in his remarks an implicit recognition of a situation of diglossia, the Bedouin dialects being at the origin of the high variety (al-luġa al-‘arabiyya al-faṣīḥa). This situation is also revealed by an anecdote, where we see a speaker of Bedouin origin alternating between what Ibn Ǧinnī calls “the two ways of speaking” (ǧihatā al-kalām), with and without case and mood endings. Despite appearances, it is not about sociolinguistics and history of language. It is about language theory, with the hypothesis of a phenomenon of entropy, linked to the use of the language,in which the speaker gets rid of case and mood endings, a source of difficulty and errors. It is also and above all an epilinguistic discourse, consistent with the linguistic ideology (thesis of the Bedouin faṣāḥa) and with theology (thesis of the “language of Ḥiǧāz” as al-luġa al-fuṣḥā), two theses difficult to reconcile.

Framed slant helices in Euclidean 3-space2021 •
In this paper, we define framed slant helices and give a necessary and sufficient condition for them in three-dimensional Euclidean space. Then, we introduce the spherical images of a framed curve. Also, we examine the relations between a framed slant helix and its spherical images. Moreover, we give an example of a framed slant helix and its spherical images with figures.

Entrainment of mouse peripheral circadian clocks to <24 h feeding/fasting cycles under 24 h light/dark conditions2015 •
The circadian clock system in peripheral tissues can endogenously oscillate and is entrained by the light-dark and fasting-feeding cycles in mammals. Although the system's range of entrainment to light-dark cycles with a non-24 h (<24 h) interval has been studied, the range of entrainment to fasting-feeding cycles with shorter periods (<24 h) has not been investigated in peripheral molecular clocks. In the present study, we measured this range by monitoring the mouse peripheral PER2::LUCIFERASE rhythm in vivo at different periods under each feeding cycle (Tau (T) = 15-24 h) under normal light-dark conditions. Peripheral clocks could be entrained to the feeding cycle with T = 22-24 h, but not to that with T = 15-21 h. Under the feeding cycle with T = 15-18 h, the peripheral clocks oscillated at near the 24-h period, suggesting that they were entrained to the light-dark cycle. Thus, for the first time, we demonstrated the range of entrainment to the non-24 h feeding cycle, a...

The frequency diversion in hybrid power systems is a major challenge due to the unpredictable power generation of renewable energies. An automatic generation controller (AGC) system is utilised in a hybrid power system to correct the frequency when the power generation of renewable energies and consumers’ load demand are changing rapidly. While a neural network (NN) model based on a back-propagation (BP) training algorithm is commonly used to design AGCs, it requires a complicated training methodology and a longer processing time. In this paper, a bacterial foraging algorithm (BF) was employed to enhance the learning of the NN model for AGCs based on adequately identifying the initial weights of the model. Hence, the training error of the NN model was addressed quickly when it was compared with the traditional NN model, resulting in an accurate signal prediction. To assess the proposed AGC, a power system with a photovoltaic (PV) generation test model was designed using MATLAB/Simul...
