Californians Linking Action with Science for Prevention of Breast Cancer (CLASP-BC)—Phase 22020 •
Californians Linking Action with Science for Prevention of Breast Cancer (CLASP-BC) is part of California Breast Cancer Research Program’s (CBCRP) Initiative strategic priority to disseminate and implement high-impact, population-based primary prevention interventions. CLASP-BC is informed by six years of funded program dissemination and implementation (D&I) research and evaluation conducted by the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC) through its Coalitions Linking Action and Science for Prevention (CLASP). In its second phase, CLASP-BC will fund multi-sector, multi-jurisdictional initiatives that integrate the lessons learned from science with the lessons learned from practice and policy to reduce the risk of developing breast cancer and develop viable and sustainable infrastructure models for primary prevention breast cancer programs and research evidence implementation. Applications will be solicited from research, practice, policy, and community teams to address one or mor...

There is More to Discourse than Meets the Ears: Looking at Thinking as Communicating to Learn More About Mathematical Learning2022 •
This work presents a proposal of modeling activities designed and implemented in a seventh-level course (12 years old). The activities include three phases: understanding modeling, modeling itself, and formulating modeling projects. These phases are intended to facilitate the modeling process. The activities are contextualized in themes of interest: healthy eating, awareness of the garbage produced, and the third phase, student proposals of a theme and problem. These proposals emphasize the development of contextualized problems where the mathematics emerge naturally from the themes. The aim of the study was to understand the difficulties and potentialities of implementing the modeling activities and was approached through a qualitative research, collecting data from the students' productions, and an interview with the course teacher. Grounded theory was used to analyze the data, from which categories emerged relating to students' and teachers' difficulties and potentialities. Results indicate that, on one hand, the proposal allowed students to visualize the mathematical difficulties and thus, support them; on the other hand, working with contextualized situations allowed the students to participate in the activities and develop communication and complementary skills. These activities allowed students to relate mathematics to real-life situations, visualizing its importance and identifying how it can be used in diverse contexts.

Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the Jaw in Dental Practice: A Retrospective Analysis of Data from the Milan CohortA retrospective analysis was performed with the aim of understanding whether the risk factors showed in the literature for medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ) in cancer patients are also relevant in osteoporotic patients taking antiresorptive drugs (ARDs). Data were retrospectively pooled from health records of patients on ARDs who requested a dental visit between January 2006 and April 2020 in the Dental Unit at Fondazione Ca’ Granda IRCCS Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, University of Milan. A total of 434 patients were included. The following variables were collected: sex, age, smoking habit, type of ARD, duration of treatment, route of administration, therapeutic indication, concurrent systemic therapies and pathologies. Statistical analysis confirmed the relevance of chemotherapy, smoking, and immunosuppressive drugs as risk factors. In addition, a higher frequency of MRONJ in osteoporotic patients was reported in our cohort in association with an immunodeficienc...
