This book focuses on two central topics. The first one is the Platonic concept of time. What is it, how is it defined, what is it not, and how does it help us describe the changing realities surrounding us? The second one is Plato’s understanding of the perceptible world. How is it related to Forms, and how exactly does it work? These are central, wide-ranging, and highly contested questions that have been garnering attention in recent Platonic scholarship. We have ensembled an international team that aims to offer bold, innovative, and thought-provoking answers to these questions. The contributions represent a diverse range of starting points, methodologies, and interpretative traditions whose collective aim is to challenge your assumptions about Plato’s philosophy and help you rethink and revisit the Platonic corpus with fresh eyes.

CD28 biomarker quantification and expression level profiles in CD4(+) T-lymphocytes in solid organ transplantation2017 •
The introduction of anti-calcineurin-based therapies has led to an increase in the one-year survival as well as graft function rates in patients undergoing solid organ transplantation (SOT). Nonetheless, early cellular acute rejection (EAR) incidence still remains a major challenge that irrevocably heads to poor outcomes. The mechanisms underlying CD4 T cell activation in SOT are still under research. The top quark is pair-produced in pp collisions through quark-antiquark annihilation and gluon-gluon fusion. The measurement of the tt cross section tests the QCD calculations for the pair production of a massive colored triplet. Background: Youth Functioning and Organizational Success for West African Regional Development (Youth FORWARD) was launched as an implementation science collaboration focused on scaling out evidence-based mental health interventions for youth exposed to war and other adversities through novel delivery platforms. Feshane-i Amire'de Teknoloji Transferi: Makineleşme ve Yabancı Uzmanlar2021 •
Bazı toplumlar tarihin farklı dönemlerinde diğerlerine kıyasen teknolojik üstünlük elde ederek askerî, iktisadî ve kültürel hegemonya kurabilmiştir. Sanayi Devrimi olarak bilinen aşamada ortaya çıkan ve zamanla geleneksel üretim tekniklerini yerinden eden teknolojik gelişmeler sayesinde İngiltere ve bazı Avrupa ülkeleri böyle bir teknolojik üstünlük elde edebilmiştir. Çeşitli endüstriyel casusluk vakalarına da yol açan teknolojik bilgiye sahip olma arzusu, teknoloji transferleri aracılığıyla aktörler arasında daha kolay şekilde karşılanabilmiştir. Sınaî olarak en gelişmiş ülkelerin dahi başvurduğu teknoloji transferi, Osmanlı sanayisinin de zamanla hissettiği bir ihtiyaç halini almıştır. 18. yüzyıldaki girişimlere benzeyen fakat daha kapsamlı ve yoğun sanayileşme girişimleri 19. yüzyılın ilk yarısında ortaya çıkmıştır. Önceki yüzyıllardan farklı olarak, daha kompleks makinelerin ve daha da önemlisi buhar gücünün kullanıldığı bu dönemde, kurulan fabrikaların ayakta kalabilmesi ve geliştirilebilmesi için teknoloji transferi kaçınılmaz bir ihtiyaç olmuştur. Bu fabrikalar arasında, 1833’te Akdeniz’deki uluslararası rekabet ortamının içine doğan Feshane-i Amire, haiz olduğu kıymet ve ehemmiyeti nedeniyle sürekli korunması ve yenilenmesi gereken en önemli fabrikalardan biri haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, fabrikanın geliştirilmesi için teknoloji transferi yoluyla Feshane-i Amire’de gerçekleştirilen yeniliklerin ve bu yeniliklerin uygulanma sürecinin, Osmanlı Arşivi’nin Hazine-i Hassa tasnifinde bulunan defterler ışığında incelenmesidir. Uluslararası rekabet kapsamında Tunusluların üzerinde ciddi derecede uzmanlaşarak kaliteli bir seviyeye ulaştırdıkları, Fransızların ise uyguladıkları fabrika sistemiyle maliyetleri azaltarak seri hale getirdikleri fes üretimi, Feshane-i Amire’nin yalnızca kaliteli ve ucuz üretim yapabilme becerisiyle ayakta kalabileceği bir ortam yaratmıştır. Fabrikanın rekabet içinde olduğu ithal feslere karşı kalite ve fiyat bakımından üstünlük sağlayabilmesi için teknolojik olarak devamlı geliştirilmesi gerekmiştir. 1841 yılına kadar geleneksel üretim teknikleriyle üretimin sürdürüldüğü fabrikada, bu yıldan itibaren teknoloji transferi süreci başlamış ve ilk olarak Fransa’dan çarh (makine) ithal edilmiştir. 1843 yılında ise İngiltere’den ithal edilen buhar makinesi sayesinde makinelerde enerji kaynağı olarak buhar gücü kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Üretim sürecindeki tüm aşamalarda mekanizasyon hızlı ve kararlı bir şekilde devam ederek nihayetinde kadın işçilerin ördüğü feslerin dahi Saksonya’dan ithal edilen örme makineleriyle örülmesi aşamasına ulaşılmıştır. Fes üretimindeki teknoloji transferi sadece bazı alanlarla sınırlı kalmayıp üretim sürecinin tamamına nüfuz edebilmiştir. Yalnızca makinelerin ithal edilmesi eksik bir teknoloji transferi olacağından, know-how sağlayabilmek amacıyla, özellikle Fransız ve İngiliz yabancı uzmanlar yüksek ücretler karşılığında Feshane-i Amire’de istihdam edilmiştir.

Management of Budget Flows from Excise Taxation in UkraineThe article aims to identify possible directions for improving the management of budgetary flows from excise taxation in Ukraine to implementing the state's fiscal and socio-economic tasks through tax revenues. Using the method of analysis of hierarchies, a choice was made of an option for a possible adjustment of excise tax rates on alcoholic products, tobacco products, or the introduction of an excise tax on soft drinks and food products with high sugar content. The method used allowed taking into account the conditions of military aggression on the part of Russia, under which the modern financial system of Ukraine operates. The results obtained by the hierarchy analysis method contribute to balanced decisions in the process of budget flows, and their accounting in the excise taxation system ensures the choice of a reasonable level, tax rates, and the introduction of new types of taxes. OBJECTIVE The peroxisome proliferator–activated receptor-γ2 (PPARG2) Pro12Ala polymorphism has been associated with a higher BMI and a lower risk of type 2 diabetes in adulthood. The association between adiposity and PPARG variants can be influenced by environmental factors such as early growth, dietary fat, and (as recently shown) breast-feeding. The objectives of this study were to assess 1) the influence of the PPARG2 Pro12Ala polymorphism on adiposity markers in adolescents and 2) a possible modulating effect of breast-feeding on these associations. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Data on breast-feeding duration, BMI, and genotypes for the Pro12Ala polymorphism were available for 945 adolescents (mean age 14.7 years). The breast-feeding duration was obtained from parental records. We measured weight, height, waist circumference, and six skinfold thicknesses.
