Variations in growth performance and nitrogen uptake of sugarcane cultivars under rain-fed conditions

tailieu.vn

The positive associations between total nitrogen uptake with total biomass production and cane yield suggested that higher nitrogen uptake supports better growth performance of sugarcane under rain- fed conditions. From this study, NiF3 and Ni27 could be introduced as the promising sugarcane varieties for better growth performance and high nitrogen uptake under rain-fed conditions..

Handbook of Plant Nutrition - chapter 2

Since most of the nitrogen in soil is organic, determination of total nitrogen has been a common method of estimating organic nitrogen. About 60 to 75% of the mineralized nitrogen may be obtained by a crop (99). The turnover rate of nitrogen in humus may be about 1 to 3% of the total nitrogen of the soil, varying with type of soil, climate, cultivation, and other factors (93,99).

However, the results indicated that the land in the surveyed area was rich in total nitrogen content according to Kyuma scale, (1976). The unburned straw treatment method might offer an environment with higher organic matter content which supported the activity of microbiological life, and in turn, these microorganisms used up certain amount of nitrogen for their own development, declining the total nitrogen content in the soil.

Similarly, the accumulation of total saponin and polysaccharide were also influenced by initial nitrogen concentration in the medium. maximum production of ginseng saponin and polysaccharide obtained (1.5 g/L and 2.19 g/L) at the initial nitrogen concentration of 40 mM [12]. In the simultaneous production of ginseng saponin and polysaccharide by suspension cultures of P. ginseng, [4] reported that production of ginseng saponin was related with the total nitrogen concentration.

These concentrations are considered as excessive nitrate nitrogen in the finished compost (Environment Agency, 2000) which could be attributed to nitrification process (Selim et al., 2012). The concentration of NO 3 in treatments and 10 is in the recommended range of good compost as reported by Bordna Mona (2003) and Selim et al. The total nitrogen content, in all treatments, except treatment (2), is in the recommended range as stated by Sanchez-Monedero et al.

Summary of the dissertation: Effects of peatland and submergence regime on biomass of melaleuca forest in the U Minh Ha national park, Ca Mau province

tailieu.vn

Analysis of multivariate regression of melaleuca forest biomass at different peatland layers and soil parameters such as bulk density, pH, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, organic matter, N-NO 3 - and N-NH 4 + indicated that bulk density and organic matter significantly influence on melaleuca biomass (p<0.05) in the way that dry biomass of the forest would be increased when bulk density increased and organic matter decreased.

Physico-chemical properties of yoghurt containing cress seed mucilage or guar gum

tailieu.vn

Total nitrogen and soluble nitrogen contents in the yoghurt samples were determined according to the methods described by AOAC (2007). The extent of proteolysis in the yoghurt samples during storage was calculated as a ratio of soluble nitrogen/total nitrogen (SN/TN ratio). The concentration of acetaldehyde and diacetyl in the yoghurt samples were measured using spectrophotome- ter (Shimadzu, 240-UV–Vis, Japan) as described by Less and Jago (1970)..
